Trust South African media star Siv Ngesi to clapback at haters in the most heated way possible. The TV presenter addressed the negative remarks from social media users, most particularly women, regarding his initiative to help alleviate period poverty.

Ngesi announced in August 2024 that he would be launching sanitary products that are affordable and high-quality. He specifically aimed at young school-going females, who cannot afford pads and have to go days without using sanitary products.

"I have always wanted my own range of affordable, high-quality, and locally made sanitary pads. Today, we spent over 8 hours testing sanitary pads from all over the world here in China! I never knew pads could be so exciting! A factory is coming soon to South Africa!!"

Peeps troll Siv Ngesi

Many women trolled Siv Ngesi and asked him weird questions, such as, "Do you get your period?" However, an unbothered Siv said if he listened to negative comments, he would not have stepped up to help.

"If I listened to every woman who had something negative to say about me starting a period poverty charity and a sanitary pad factory, I’d be doing exactly what they’re doing—just tweeting, and doing fokol to help!"

Despite the negativity, Siv has never backed down from helping where he can.

Siv claps back at troll over criticism

Reacting to his tweet, user @GoodwoodBadboy asked a very odd question, considering that Sizwe is a man. "Do you get periods? Why Siv?"

However, unshaken by the negativity, Siv said he does not need to be a man to understand female problems. Ngesi was also part of a panel which discussed ways to help the underprivileged get access to sanitary products.

People are confused about the amount of hate Siv has been getting.

"I can’t believe people are responding like this. It’s weird."

@ZoliBee said:

"The young women catered for understand why, and that’s all that matters. Ignore the haters."

@cherylh2707 applauded:

"Don't give them airtimewhat you are doing is fantastic, not enough men do what you're doing....far too many young women are missing school because they cannot afford sanitary pads or even using newspaper or their school textbook paper!"

@jason_kelder questioned:

"Why are people hating on you when you're doing a good thing? It’s as if they don’t want fellow black citizens to be successful. Maybe it reminds them of how they have failed themselves over the last 30 years."
