South African radio personality and actor Martin Ziqubu has reportedly passed away. The news of his passing was shared by Daily Sun, revealing that he passed away at a Durban hospital on Thursday, 24 July 2025.

The beloved South African personality, Martin Ziqubu, was 68 when he passed away suddenly.

How Martin Ziqubu passed away

Martin Ziqubu was also a well-known Ukhozi FM personality and actor who landed a role on Isibaya. Ziqubi made his first appearance on the Mzansi Magic telenovela on 14 March 2019, portraying the role of Jamludi, Dabula's elder uncle.

The star reportedly died on Thursday, 24 July 2025, after complaining about breathing problems.

He was rushed to the hospital by his family. However, before he could get treated, he sadly died. The Ntuzuma-born entertainer has brought certain characters to life on the Ukhozi FM drama series since 1991.

Ziqubu's wife speaks out

The news publication spoke with Ziqubu's wife, Nhlanhla, who said his death came as a shock to them. On the day of his death, he did his normal duties and attended his meeting.

"He was well and never complained about pain or any illness. On Thursday, he woke up as normal and attended the meeting in Durban, and his meeting went well."

Later on in the day, Ziqubu complained about struggling to breathe. The family is still confused and is seeking answers regarding the cause of death.

"On his way home in the afternoon, he complained that he was struggling to breathe and was rushed to the nearest doctor in Durban for medical treatment. Unfortunately, he couldn't make it. We are still shocked and don't know the cause of his death," she said.

Zulu Glamour passes away

Another Ukhozi FM star, Zamaweza "Zuluglamour" Mthalane, passed away on Sunday, 9 March 2025, at Dr Pixley Ka Isaka Seme Memorial Hospital in KwaMashu, Durban. Zulu Glamour was 35 years old at the time of her passing.

She was best known for her work on a Maskandi show called Sigiya Ngengoma as a contributor.

“She started getting sick two weeks ago, complaining about headaches. She tried to get medication, then she was later admitted to the hospital. When she got to the hospital, her situation just grew worse. Her eyes closed, and she couldn't even hear at one point, and she passed away," the publication quoted the source. "We are heartbroken by her sudden passing.”

Maskandi star dies

In a previous report from Briefly News, Maskandi star who founded the group Izingane Zoma co-founder, Busani 'Ntshebe' Khuzwayo, passed away earlier this year. Khuzwayo died after suffering a severe stroke.
