Club owner and musician DJ Sumbody, real name Oupa Sefoka, who was gunned down in Johannesburg in 2022, had social media buzzing this week when police arrested four suspects linked to his assassination.
The late businessman topped Twitter trends this week when his family broke their silence about his passing.
Sefoka also made headlines this week when South African businessman Katiso Molefe was accused of being the mastermind behind the late musician's murder.
Sunday World reports that DJ Sumbody was assassinated for knowing too much about a drug cargo that went missing from police custody.

The publication adds that the late music producer has been linked to a violent underworld feud over a multi-million-rand drug consignment that went missing in police custody in KwaZulu-Natal.
Sources reveal that the cargo reappeared in Johannesburg clubs, where it was sold at a cut-rate price by "The Big Five".
A mole in the entertainment industry shares with the publication that Sefoka became unknowingly involved when he was approached for assistance.
The publication adds that a drug lord has described the late musician as "someone who lacked the guts to get involved in any crime".
Entertainment news channel, MDNNews, reported on its X account on Sunday, 27 July 2025, that the late musician was tied to the underworld drug dispute.
South Africans respond to DJ Sumbody's latest reports
@Zani_Baccaria reacted:
"The majority of club owners are drug dealers; we know this."
@Waylonjunior commented:
"@SAPoliceService. Half of them are moonlighting for the very syndicates they’re pretending to investigate."
@Stimela_Mgazi responded:
"Ramaphosa is aware of this, but won’t talk because Senzo is involved."
@daddyo_2 said:
"Bro found out too much in that Cape Town link-up with the big 5. The moment he said nah, it was game over. The man already clocked faces and knew who’s who. After that? He was marked. The moral of the story is that once you are deep in that underworld and know too much. You are the next one on the chopping block. There's no way out clean."
@troubledcole replied:
"No, it can't be just that. That brutal killing with all those bullets meant that the reason was much bigger, or he somehow betrayed the underworld kingpins."
@mpho_pitsi_za commented:
"Since @MYANC took over the @GovernmentZA. South Africa is no longer the same."
@SojozelaM wrote:
"Somebody killed DJ Sumbody because somebody's drugs went missing?Somebody, please help someone understand?"
@KgomotsoTlhapan commented:
"Being greedy is a problem also, drug lords don't play when it comes to their money. You will pay with your life if you."
@Dukes_Mokoena reacted:
"Clubs and drugs are like cool buddies, no, you can separate the two, never!"
