Speaking on Podcast and Chill, he revealed that his set was too mellow for the crowd:

"I don't blame them. Those guys want wild music, whereas my music is softer. They wanted their own sound, like dancehall and reggae.
"The promoter told me so, they said, 'These people aren't tapped into your market yet, maybe if you started with your hit songs.'"

When asked if he suspected the recent Xenophobic incidents between South Africans and Zimbabweans in Mzansi had caused the tension, the singer said he was not aware of the events.

On 22 July, Briefly News reported on a distraught Zimbabwean woman's desperate plea to South Africans for help for her son after she was denied entry to a hospital.

An undocumented immigrant, the distressed woman's case sparked mixed reactions from netizens. Several South Africans responded with frustration, as the country currently faces tensions over illegal immigration and access to public services.

Meanwhile, others claimed that Mangolo's performance was the problem:

Mr black said:

"It's not about being South African; his performance was very bad. That's the only way Zim fans would chase you off the stage."

dadiso added:

"No, his performance was bad, it's not about the hospital issue."

Mufundisi Sigauke 04 confirmed:

"But I don't think that's the case. He performed badly because Scott Maphuma was here 4 days ago and we loved the show."
