Former Skeem Saam actress Makgofe Moagi has spoken out about her departure from the soapie, where she played businesswoman, Charity Ramabu.

Moagi also portrayed Katlego Peterson's (Patrick Seleka) on-screen mother, and Koko Mantsha's (Lydia Mokgokoloshi) daughter in Turfloop.

The actress's character left Turfloop after she was threatened by Meikie Maputla (Harriet Manamela), after Charity's affair with John Maputla (Africa Tsoai) ended.

Moagi revealed in an interview with News24 this week that she left the soapie to embark on a traditional journey.

"I had to go," adds the actress.

The star adds that if the call ever came, she wouldn’t hesitate to return to the streets of Turfloop to reprise her popular character as Charity Ramabu.

Moagi made headlines in 2022 when she shared on her Instagram account that some traditional healers were reckless when performing traditional ceremonies in rivers.

The star added that she was unhappy with healers who left behind bottles, plastics, and other waste.

“We are ruining things for ourselves. Tomorrow, they will tell us not to go to the river to do our initiations because of what we are doing. When you go there, take everything you came there with, find the nearest dustbin, and throw everything that you were using in there. We pollute our rivers. I'm asking politely ... they know that the environment won't be able to turn it into manure,” said Moagi.

Fans of the soapie haven't seen the fan-favourite character since 2020.
