Duduzile 'Lady Du' Ngwenya, South Africa's amapiano sensation, is known for making hits, but her recent freestyle for Red Bull 64 Bars may, for some, be memorable for the wrong reason.

On 29 July, 2025, the amapiano-focused X account Piano Connect uploaded a clip of the Woza hitmaker spitting bars on a track produced by T-Man SA on the third season of music-driven series. This was after losing her father, DJ Choc Ngwenya, in April and getting back in the studio to continue the grind.

Piano Connect described Lady Du as "bringing the heat and the groove" in her performance.

What is Red Bull 64 Bars?

Red Bull 64 Bars is an online series that brings "rap at its purest level" and has duos of rappers and producers collaborating in a lyrical marathon.

Other notable artists who have participated together in the series' third season include Thato Saul and Feziekk, Emtee and Bali, YoungstaCPT and Shaney Jay, K.Keed and Orish, Stogie T and Tru Hitz, Usimamane and Saak Beats, A-Reece and Michael Tuohy, Sirbelow and Zoocci Coke Dope, and Khuli Chana and Frank Apollo.

So far, Lady Du has been the only female to freestyle for the current season.

Lady Du's freestyle receives jumbled responses

After watching the performance on X, a few local members of the online community went to the comment section with their thoughts. While some people enjoyed Lady Du's lyrics and delivery, others were not too keen and felt the rapper could have kept things on paper instead of letting them out on the mic.
