It is not looking good for DJ Jaivane. The muso was embroiled in drama regarding his newly released album, Onkgopotse. A music producer by the name of Smaki 08 claimed that he made a significant contribution to the album, meaning he worked on a total of 14 tracks.
The 25-track album was released on Thursday, 31 July 2025, on all major streaming platforms. However, this was almost not made possible by Smaki, who wanted the album drop to be moved pending a resolution with DJ Jaivane and his record label Simnandi Records.
"I personally recorded the vocalists, arranged the compositions, and built the sound that defines much of this project."
Smaki said he received communication from Jaivane's music distributor informing him that he will no longer be credited for 12 out of the 14 songs. The reason is that "it would not look good for one producer's name to appear so frequently."

Jaivane pays producers in a cheeky way
In an X post by @PianoConnect, Jaivane recorded a video after their meeting, informing the public that he has paid the gentlemen. However, his attitude towards the gentlemen did not sit right with many people.
"It looks like DJ Jaivane paid Record L Jones and Slenda Vocals. But he’s making fun of them," the blog page wrote.
In the video, he laughed at them after revealing that the payment had been settled. The men, visibly annoyed, did not utter a word.
In a statement he released prior to the meeting, Jaivane assured the DJs that they would be properly credited.
"While the distributor informed us that the album release cannot be halted at this stage, they have committed to updating the credits in the days following the release to ensure Smaki 08 is rightfully acknowledged for the songs he worked on."

@lesogana_ claimed:
"That’s because I’m sure they thought they’d get gang money, and broski probably showed them how much the song did. He probably even gave those dudes cash, look at how disappointed they are."
