Tyla's parents are very supportive of her career since she decided to pursue music instead of furthering her studies or pursuing a career. She told People that it took a lot of convincing and begging for her parents to finally agree:

"So my parents were like, 'Be realistic. You need to work; this can be a side hobby. After a lot of convincing, they allowed me to do just that."

Her parents finally gave her one year to work on her music after getting their blessings

She has since won multiple awards, including a Grammy, and became a global Pop sensation through hard work and determination.
