Halala! This seems to be a good year for the Lekompo rising star, Shandesh, as she bagged her first award since her debut in the music industry.
On Saturday, 02 August 2025, many female artists and stars in the music industry were honoured with awards at the 4th annual Basadi In Music Awards (BIMA) at the Joburg Theatre in Braamfontein.
The Sdudla or Slender hitmaker, who apologised for calling Botswana a dry place, was among the winners on that unforgettable night. The Limpopo-born singer bagged the Dance Artist of the Year award, for which she was nominated alongside Makhadzi, Karishma, Azana, and Manana Highness.

The BIMA announced the star's win on their Instagram page and wrote:

Shortly after it was announced that the star had won an award on social media, many of her fans and supporters beamed with joy and happiness as they flooded the comment section with congratulatory messages.

BIMA founder Hloni Modise-Matu congratulates the winners
The founder and CEO of the Basadi In Music Awards (BIMA), Hloni Modise-Matau, shared with Briefly News how proud she was of all the nominees and winners, and she also expressed her gratitude to everyone who continuously supported them.
"Words can’t express how I feel about last night’s celebration at the Joburg Theatre! Congratulations to all our winners, nominees, and partners for making the Basadi in Music Awards a night to remember. I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for the incredible talent, passion, and dedication that shone through on stage. Here’s to empowering more women in music," she said.
Joburg Theatre CEO, Xoliswa Nduneni, also shared with Briefly News how honoured they were to have hosted the awards once again this year.

Naledi Aphiwe nominated at the Basadi In Music Awards
While many were celebrating Shandesh's win at the Basadi In Music Awards (BIMA), the talented singer, Naledi Aphiwe, was also recognised at the fourth annual Basadi in Music Awards 2025 with two nominations after walking away with three nominations in 2024.
Her hit song, Ngiyabonga, which speaks of her gratitude to her loved ones and supporters, was nominated for Music Video of the Year. The video was shot at Naledi's school, which was the foundation of where it all started for her.
She told Briefly News that what made the Ngiyabonga music video special was the chance to work with the people she loved. She went up against Liyema Pantsi, Kharishma, Zee Nxumalo and Pabi Cooper.
