Bathong, South African Grammy Award winner Tyla, found herself trending on social media for all the wrong reasons this time around. The star became a hot topic after it was reported that her "boyfriend" was pulled in by the cops.

On Thursday, 31 July 2025, an online user @sinaking_1 posted a video of the Water hitmaker, who debuted a new hairstyle, posing with two female officers on X (formerly Twitter). It was also reported that the alleged boyfriend, Geo, had been taken to the police station because he had a gun in his possession.

However, many netizens found it hard to believe that the alleged lover was taken into custody, as the video showed Tyla appearing friendly with the law officials while taking snaps.

Tyla opens up about the relationship she has with her parents

In another story, Tyla previously opened up about her career and relationship with her family. During an interview on Capital Xtra, the singer mentioned her parents, Sharleen and Sherwin Seethal, saying they aren't your average, super strict South African parents:
