As South Africa weighs in on the Open Chats Podcast drama, controversial YouTuber Slik Talk has ruffled some feathers after criticising Gayton McKenzie and the coloured community for their response to the remarks.

The Open Chats Podcast crew landed in hot water after it made derogatory comments about the coloured community. Gayton McKenzie immediately took legal action against the podcast, but Slik Talk believes the Patriotic Alliance (PA) leader went a little too far.

“If you watch the episode, you could clearly tell that you were just trying to be entertaining, and it was a joke not to be taken seriously. But apparently, the coloured community didn't like that at all, and they were outraged. They were p*ssed. They want blood. They're mad, and then they have people like Gayton McKenzie, clown by the way, talking about, ‘Now, we're gonna go off to them. We're gonna go off for them. We're gonna get them.’ Let me tell you something, Gayton McKenzie, do you know the difference between stereotype and racism? That's not racism. That's a stereotypical joke,” Slik Talk said.

The YouTuber, who has made a career out of slamming celebrities, then came for the coloured community. Slik Talk accused the coloured community of being black when it's convenient.

“And my thing is, why do coloured people be making their business to separate themselves from being black? They make it their business to separate themselves from being black…Colored people are only black when it's convenient. You have to watch out for these guys. They're only black when it's convenient,” he said.

Slik Talk didn’t completely absolve the Open Chats Podcast and slammed one of the co-hosts for making a joke at the expense of the coloured community. He argued that, regardless of the distasteful joke, Open Chats shouldn’t be cancelled.

“Mtho was clearly making a joke. He was clearly trying to be funny. The joke itself was not funny. It was just distasteful, but at the same time, does that mean they should be cancelled and they should never upload an episode again because of a joke he made on YouTube? F outta here,” Slik Talk said.

He took another swipe at Gayton McKenzie for falsely claiming that the Open Chats Podcast is on SABC. While McKenzie has since apologised for the claim, Slik Talk offered advice to the politician, saying:

“And the thing about Gayton McKenzie, he's so clueless. He thinks ‘Open Chats Podcast’ was on SABC. Do your research before you get on your phone [and] start talking crazy. He's like, ‘No, we're gonna go for SABC too. How dare they promote these guys? We're gonna go for them’. Do your research. Stop using moments as a way to draw attention to your little party.”
