The star, who recently landed a role in a UK action thriller and played the role of Ntsiki Lukhele, said her passport has expired, and the Department of Home Affairs wants her to prove her late parents' citizenship.
"I am sitting here feeling despondent and in pain. In 1994, I went to my ancestral land, South Africa, having been born in exile and acquired my South African citizenship so I could vote for a black majority government. The South African government welcomed us exiles, happy for us to hold dual citizenship!" she exclaimed.
Nomvete said the department wants her to produce her late parents' ID documents and birth certificates to prove their SA citizenship. Because she cannot hand in these supporting documents, she cannot travel to the country. The actress finds this off because she believes these documents should be on record at Home Affairs.
"I went through hell and high water to produce this very evidence back then!" she added.
