He posted a video on Instagram on 21 July 2025, under the handle Yerik Jomei, where he proclaimed himself as a "pap activist." Yerik Jomei launched into a rant about the many bizarre ways people have started cooking pap in recent years.

"The abuse of pap must come to an end. Some have been installing wors in the pap; others are mixing it with cheese. Cheesy pap and others are changing its skin colour purple pap no," said Yerik in the clip.
Yerik Jomei openly admitted that he does not know how to make pap the conventional way, so he used a pap maker to prepare his meals.
"So as a pap activist that I am, so I am taking a stand to make pap great again. I can not cook pap because if I cook it, it will end up tasting like rubber. You end up chewing forever."
He expressed how the appetite pap maker is his "weapon for change." With the pap machine in front of him, he called out these trends as culinary crimes against the beloved South African dish, traditionally enjoyed plain or served with gravy, meat, or vegetables.
