Adding fun to the work enviroment
We at Briefly News had the pleasure of speaking with Siphosethu Dapula, an Engen petrol attendant with over 10 years of experience, to get his perspective on the recent internet sensation.
The team asked the petrol attendant what his reaction was to seeing the man dancing next to the G4S truck. He responded:
"The video caught my eye. After more than 10 years working at different fuel stations, you see all sorts, but that was something else. To be dancing with that much energy, right next to a G4S car, that's bold. It certainly made me smile."
We asked if Siphosethu agrees with the masses who said it takes a certain kind of courage to perform freely in front of a cash-in-transit vehicle. He added:
"It absolutely does! Those G4S trucks carry a heavy presence. Most people, even we as attendants, keep our distance. So, for him to be dancing right there, doing the Magumba and Umlando moves, yes, that's brave. He wasn't letting anything stop his fun."
When asked if he's seen anything similar in his long career as a petrol attendant, Siphosethu said:
"In my time working on all these petrol stations, I've seen friendly faces and good services, of course. But someone dancing with that much flair and confidence, especially next to a G4S truck, no, I haven't seen anything quite like that. He's certainly one of a kind."
SA praises the petrol attendant's courage
The viral video garnered 6.4M views, 484K likes, and 10.8K comments from social media users who were entertained and stunned. Many called him brave and humorously noted that he 'walked through the shadow of death' by approaching the avoided armoured truck. Some users admitted they would never get close to such a vehicle, fearing that a heist gang might be nearby and that bullets could begin flying unexpectedly.
