A frustrated South African woman took to TikTok to expose a hair salon after allegedly being scammed out of a huge amount of money on her wig that she showed off in a video.

The woman, who goes by the TikTok handle @itsssssiyaa, alleged that the 28-inch wig she received did not look anything like what was advertised and accused the salon of false advertising and poor service.

@itsssssiyaa revealed that she paid about R7k for the wig, thinking she would receive quality, but what arrived was shocking to her. Taking to her TikTok video's caption, she said the following:

"Uthi mandiyi ayine izoba right. This is just for warning purposes @Top Hair Za is a SCAM they will take your hard earned money and give you a bad quality wig that even has bald spots after that bathi they don't do refunds and returns," she wrote.
She went on to call out individuals who criticise small businesses by saying:
"People would usually blame abantu that complain about small black businesses that sell hair cheap, but naba badurayo bethuna they will still deliver cheap looking and bad-quality wigs, cause nantsi ngoku ilitshoba kodwa yi R7000. Buy at your own risk dolls."
The incident has sparked widespread outrage on social media, with many netizens sympathising with @itsssssiyaa and urging her to take legal action. Others shared their own horror stories, accusing salons and hair vendors of similar scams. The salon in question has yet to publicly respond to the allegations.
