SA outraged by high property rental prices in Cape Town

A real estate agent recently advertised an apartment located in a quiet suburb in Greenpoint, Cape Town. The home has two bedrooms, one bathroom, a balcony, a garage and a parking bay secured by surveillance cameras.

The apartment is cosy with little space to move around. The passage from the front door is short and leads to a living room/dining area.

There’s a sliding door at the end of the living area, which leads to a tiny balcony. The kitchen is the size of the second bedroom and requires one to bring their own appliances, including a fridge.

The bathroom has a shower and an instant hot water cylinder that saves electricity. The main bedroom is as big as the living area and has built-in wardrobes.

The apartment has been made available from 11 July 2025 at the price of R22K monthly. Mzansi shook their heads in disbelief.
