According to @Noni Pule, this section should act like a shortened version of a cover letter, giving recruiters a snapshot of what the applicant brings to the table.

“Highlight work experience that speaks to the job post you are applying for,” she explained. “This sets the tone for why you are the right fit, @Noni Pule wrote in the video that she shared on TikTok.

Step two, @Noni Pule advised, is to ensure that the education section highlights coursework relevant to the role. Instead of listing all qualifications, applicants should select those that match the job’s requirements, showcasing the right knowledge base.

The third step is making work experience explicit and impact-driven.

“Tell us of the impact your work has made by focusing on outcomes,” she added.

She gave an example from her own CV, coaching more than 20 team leaders over four years, which in turn impacted over 800 learners across South Africa annually.

Her fourth recommendation was tailoring skills and attributes to each job specification. Rather than relying on a generic list, applicants should match their skills to what employers are actively seeking.

She also encouraged job seekers to include organisations they are affiliated with, as this lends credibility to their work history and expertise.

“CVs are not one size fits all,” she said, reminding people that each application requires adjustments to reflect the specific role.

@Noni Pule further advised proofreading carefully and seeking second opinions before applying. Finally, she emphasised keeping CVs concise by stating:

“Stick to two pages, you don’t need to add references. A simple line that says ‘references available upon request’ is enough.”

Her practical and detailed tips have resonated with job seekers across Mzansi, many of whom applauded her clear approach to making a CV both professional and impactful.
