Finding joy in a sad situation

We at Briefly News had the pleasure of speaking with Zamasango Makhalima, the founder of ZamSan Events, to get her professional perspective on the moving video of the bride left at the altar.

As an event planner, we asked how Zama views the situation of the bride choosing to celebrate with loved ones after the groom's running off. She shared:

"It was incredibly moving. My heart went out to her, but her strength was just astonishing. To turn a day of heartbreak into a celebration with loved ones shows immense character and resilience. It's a testament to the power of support systems."

Briefly News asked if, as a planner, Zama has encountered a situation as dramatic or heartbreaking as the bride being left at the altar. She said:

"Thankfully, no, not exactly like that. I've never had a groom abandon a bride at the altar on a wedding I was working on. It's every planner's worst nightmare, honestly. I can, however, recall a wedding I was attending as a guest, not working, where the bride was about four hours late. People started thinking she wasn't coming, and the tension in the room was immense. Luckily, she did show up, but that feeling of uncertainty and worry for the groom and guests was quite palpable."

When asked how she would handle the sensitive aftermath of a situation like the bride's, as an events planner. Zamasango said:

"As an events planner, my focus would shift to the client's well-being and needs. In a situation like this, it would be about supporting her, ensuring her comfort, and helping her navigate the emotional aftermath. Any apologies or discussion with the other party would be entirely her decision."
