Humorous reenactments of the Coldplay cheating scandal where two tech firm big bosses from Astronomer were allegedly having an affair have travelled to South Africa.

While attending a Springbok match at Mbombela Stadium on 19 July, an Afrikaner couple thought they would give their take on the unfortunate (and possibly comical?) situation.

A Reddit user, u/Binxlee, shared on the subreddit r/southafrica a picture of a man and woman dressed in their green and gold shirts. The man embraced his partner from behind, just as the CEO did with the HR executive.

To make their recreation stand out, the woman held a giant downward-pointing arrow on a stick. On one side, it said, "Not the CEO," and on the other side, it read, "Hy's my man (He's my man)."

The Coldplay cheating scandal explained

After much digging, internet sleuths alleged that the pair spotted at the Coldplay concert on 16 July was Astronomer's CEO Andy Byron and Chief People Officer Kristin Cabot. Both are married to other people. The two were caught on a kisscam canoodling and were exposed live on the big screen.

When the camera landed on the couple, Andy ducked for cover, while Kristin covered her face with her hands and turned around.

Their actions prompted Coldplay's frontman, Chris Martin, to say:

"Uh-oh, what? Either they're having an affair, or they're just very shy."

The viral moment had many social media users from across the globe recreating the scandal in humorous and unique ways.
