DUDUZA, EKURHULENI — The South African Police Service has embarked on an intense search for cash-in-transit heist suspects who committed the crime in Duduza, Ekurhuleni, on 5 August 2025.

According to SABC News, police swiftly cordoned off the area after an unknown number of suspects forced a security vehicle to stop near the Vlakfontein Cemetery. The police are currently on the hunt for the suspects. No suspect has been arrested. It is unclear how much money was taken during the heist.

Members of the South African Police Service in KwaZulu-Natal shot dead three suspected cash-in-transit heist robbers in two shootouts on 29 May 2025. The first shootout happened in Marianhill, where the police shot and killed three suspects after receiving a tip-off. The second suspect was killed in Inanda after he resisted arrest and opened fire, prompting a shootout.

Two police officers from KwaZulu-Natal were wounded during a fatal shootout with suspected heist robbers on 16 June. The suspects were tracked to a safehouse In durban. The police announced their presence, and the suspects opened fire. One was killed, and a second evaded capture.

A cash-in-transit van was attacked in Thokoza, Ekurhuleni, by a group of armed robbers on 28 July. The attack happened in the afternoon on Mahoro Street. One of the G4S guards was shot during the attack.

Two cash-in-transit heist suspects were shot and killed in a shootout with the police in KwaZulu-Natal on 3 July in the Msinga area. Three suspects were arrested during the shootout, which happened before the suspects could rob a cash security van.
