TEMBA, NORTH WEST — One of the relatives of Kgaogelo Marota, who was killed allegedly by her ex-boyfriend in the North West on 21 August 2025, said she was living in fear. This was because the alleged killer, Lazarus Antonio, stalked the victim before allegedly killing her.

According to TimesLIVE, Antonio appeared before the Temba Magistrates Court in the North West on 25 August 2025, where he faced charges of murder and attempted murder. Antonio allegedly killed Marota and posted a video on Facebook after the incident. In it, he confessed that he allegedly committed the foul deed. His case was postponed to 5 September 2025 after he was arrested on 21 August.
What did Marota's cousin say?
Marota's cousin, Boikantsho, said that she feared for her life because Antonio was an abusive stalker. She said that he'd sleep outside their home in his car, tracking her and her movements. She believes that he might attack them if he is released on bail. She added that they had been dating for eight months before the relationship ended.

She also said that Matora obtained a protection order against Antonio. Marota was also supposed to celebrate her birthday on 26 August and had planned to go on a weekend away with her cousin and their friend.

How did her father react?
Her father, Thabiso Seema, said he was outside the courtroom during Antonio's appearance and did not want to see him. He feared how he would react and said that he wished to turn back the hands of time.
A man from Limpopo was arrested on 19 August 2025 for allegedly killing his pregnant girlfriend in Marblew Hall, Limpopo. The incident happened in the RDP section of Leeuwfontein. The suspect was previously arrested on a charge of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm when the victim opened a case against him. She, however, dropped the charges.
SAPS officer kills girlfriend, her brother and himself
