Mamelodi Sundowns star Iqraam Rayners has had his say on being left out of the nominees for the Premier Soccer League awards after his performance for the Brazilians last season.
The South African international joined the Pretoria giants from Stellenbosch last summer and quickly adapted and ended up being one of the best players at the club last campaign.
The 29-year-old led the Brazilians to their eighth Betway Premiership title last season and was also an important player in their quest in the CAF Champions League, where they ended as runners-up to eventual champions Pyramids FC.

Rayners missed out on all the award nominations as he was not nominated for the Player’s Player of the Season or the PSL Footballer of the Season, a move that didn't sit well with the former Stellenbosch striker.

“I’m a bit disappointed because what I did last season, I had a good season with a good team, good players that were helping me,” the South African striker said.
“And the coaches who believed in me. So, for me, I was disappointed when I saw the players who were nominated.
“Don’t you think also, [if you look at] my stats from last season, I think it was good to be in a lot of nominations.”
Rayners also had his say on who he believed was the best player in the league last season. The Bafana Bafana star ignored his national teammate Relebohile Mofokeng and claimed his club colleague Lucas Ribeiro was the best footballer last term, with his numbers second to the Brazilian forward's stats.
“For me, the best player in the league was Lucas, obviously,” the Mamelodi Sundowns star added.
“I think I’m second to Lucas. For me, my stats were the second-best. So, I was disappointed.”
