Springboks lockman Eben Etzebeth has announced the launch of his upcoming book.

Etzebeth, who is the most capped Springbok, announced on his Instagram account, revealing that the book is set to launch in October.

In a post on social media, he broke down the announcement of his debut memoir:

“Over the past few months, I’ve taken time to reflect on my journey, the highs, the lows, the lessons, the people, and the moments that have shaped me on and off the field,” he wrote.

The book, which will be entitled Unlocked in English and Ten Slotte in Afrikaans, will delve into his personal life, challenges, and the untold story of wearing the green and gold Springbok jersey.

“Unlocked tells my story, from growing up in Goodwood to my aspirations, the challenges I’ve faced, and what it took to wear the green and gold. Thank you to everyone who’s supported me, this one is for you,” he added.

Although the book is not yet available in bookstores, Etzebeth said it can be pre-ordered from Takealot, Exclusive Books, Wordsworth, Readers Warehouse, Loot, and other major outlets.

Etzebeth is not the first rugby star to release a memoir, with captain Siya Kolisi and coach Rassie Erasmus having penned books before.

Etzebeth loves sharing his private life online

Eben Etzebeth and his wife, Anlia, recently delighted fans with a stylish Instagram post showcasing their vintage 1968 Mercedes-Benz 280SE. The photo was part of a celebratory reveal: Anlia is pregnant with the couple’s second child.
