Tshituka's Congolese born but recently naturalised
Tshituka, born in the Democratic Republic of Congo, arrived in South Africa as a child refugee in 2002 after his family fled politically motivated violence. He began playing rugby at the University of Johannesburg, having never attended a rugby-playing school.
Last month, he made his long-awaited Springbok debut alongside his brother, Emmanuel Tshituka, in a Test match against Italy at Loftus Versfeld Stadium. This milestone came after he completed his South African citizenship earlier this year.
“The more difficult your background, the more you appreciate the opportunities life presents,” Vincent told reporters before his debut.
“Saturday is going to be an extraordinarily special day for me and my family.”
